Who is Cartoon Club for?
Is your child always doodling? Do they love to create cartoons? This is just the club for them! We are a small, friendly group that meets on Saturday mornings at Cranleigh Arts Centre. We’re open to anyone aged 8 to 12 who loves to dream up cartoons.
Cartoon Club for Kids was set up by me, illustrator and Creativity Coach Sarah Jane Vickery, with the aim of getting more kids sharing their love of cartoons – and ultimately, having fun while building creative confidence!
What will I learn?
Children will enjoy fun doodling challenges, cartoon drawing exercises and learn techniques from my Art of Wellbeing workbook series inspiring curiosity, creativity and a growth mindset. Cartoons are a fantastic way of engaging children’s imagination. My approach to cartooning is about being curious, observant and asking questions. Drawing is really about learning to see – children discover they can draw pictures they never imagined possible.
Activities include capturing expression, using angles to add excitement, bringing characters to life with motion and telling a great story. Each class has a theme linked to a creative challenge to help children discover a style all their own.
Children will not only improve their drawing skills, but also gain the creative confidence to express their thoughts and ideas visually. Suitable for all different ability levels. All materials are included. Join the fun and discover your inner cartoonist!
