Cartoon Club was set up by me, with the aim of getting people of all ages to share their love of cartoons – and ultimately, have fun while building a creative mindset.
What will you learn?
Kids and adults alike will enjoy fun doodling challenges. Use Topic cards to set your scene and Idea cards to spark your imagination and inspire you to draw fun cartoon characters, silly objects and comic captions.
Cartoons are a fantastic way of engaging the imagination. My approach to cartooning is about combining characters, captions and silly objects in witty ways to create a hilarious picture you'd never have imagined otherwise. The game can be played by children and adults of all different artistic abilities - you can keep it simple and use the Idea cards, you can steal another Cartoon Clubber's idea or you are always free to get creative and make up your own cartoon entirely. The challenge is to make it all fit within the given topic for the game.
How does Cartoon Club the drawing game work?
Your aim is to draw the most fun and creative scene on a single sheet of paper. A picture filled with characters, captions and crazy objects telling a silly story based on one topic. The most creative picture wins as voted by you and your fellow Cartoon Clubbers.
You’ll need a sheet of paper and a pen or pencil for each player. Standard printer size paper works well. Feel free to use any other drawing materials, markers or colours you like.
You’ll need a timer or stopwatch plus extra paper for keeping score as well.
Choose your game level and you're ready to play!
A Topic card will set the theme for your picture. Each player will draw their scene based on this topic for the entire game. Brainstorm together! Chat about the topic to get inspired. The more ideas you share, the more fun and creative everyone’s picture will be.
Draw for the first round then stop and look at everyone’s picture. Each player casts one vote for the picture they think is the most fun and creative for that round. You earn points every time someone votes for your picture. Yes, you can vote for yourself!
The number of points you earn is based on the Creative Challenge you chose for yourself at the start of the round. Turn over one Idea Card for the table. Now each player must choose a Creative Challenge in order to draw the next round. You can: use the Idea Card, Steal an Idea from another player or Get Creative. Repeat!
The player with the highest score at the end wins! If there is a tie, continue playing until there is a high scorer. Grab your pen, get your paper and … Let’s Get Creative!
