I was listening to Dr. Rhonda Patrick and she said that when there isn’t enough food for fuel in the large intestine, we can wind up with pathogenic bacteria that swim upstream to the small intestine. The bacteria eat the mucin layer our small intestine because it is composed of carbs. This causes the same reaction as gluten can cause. Is this why I should be eating slow-carbs? If anyone knows more about this, I’d love to learn.
