Artist Paul Klee said that “a line is a dot that went for a walk”. I like this idea because it makes drawing seem less intimidating. Like taking a relaxing walk. Just a doodle! Here’s a fun drawing exercise I do sometimes: Pick an object to draw. Anything will do. Set a timer for 20 minutes. Now take that dot for a walk! Work big! Use your entire arm. Cover the paper from edge to edge. Focus on your subject and think about ‘walking’ your eye around the subject. Your dot will do the rest of the work. Enjoy!
