I really like this saying. I don’t have a dog anymore but I do find the same applies to me and my horse. I was reading about how good it is for your health to have a dog. I read time and time again that the biggest benefit is to simply have company. It’s true. It mitigates loneliness and isolation. I never felt alone when we had our dogs. And with my horse what I think it’s great because each day I have the responsibility to go out and take care of her. I really will need to get another horse or some other pet to care for when I lose her because it really makes me feel needed. I heard this quote when listening to a really great podcast with Sharon Saltzberg on the Tim Ferriss show. It was a great discussion. She elaborates and says that love is not a feeling, it is an ability. True! Sometimes I think the animals know better!
